Beachin' Out 2012

Ford Family Beach Party Time 2012!

This weekend I'm headed off to the Gulf with the entire Ford family. All three kids and my parents will be participating in this trip and I'm pretty pumped. I can be kind of a strange chick but when you get me around the people that raised me and always accepted and even encouraged my weirdness, well, things just get freaky.

Here are some things that I plan on doing this weekend:

1.) Rehearse for America's Got Talent on the car ride down.

Not only do I have the voice of a complete ANGEL but my entire family absolutley loves it when I sing at the top of my lungs to every song that comes on the radio. It's the only party trick I have. I know pretty much every crappy song you could never want to hear. So I'm going to get a little practice in while I have an audience that is forced to listen to me.

2.) Maintain my porcelain complexion.

I'm incredibly fair - some may even throw around the word 'translucent.' At no point during this trip do I plan on getting any color because that just isn't what happens to me. I freckle, I don't tan. So to prevent any sort of freckly hot mess, I plan on using this:

Yeah. That says SPF 100+.

3.) Get it crackalackin' at FloraBama.

Holy CRAP this is a great joint. This place is a bar, a restaurant AND a package store. Daiquiri, chicken fingers, airplane bottles and you're out the door.  They also feature a Mullet Toss. What is that you ask? You throw fish across the Alabama/Florida stateline. Duh.

4.) Skype (and wear) my cat.

I'm going to want to hear about her day. So I'm going to skype her so she can see that I got a bathing suit just for:

Insane in my membrane,

RAW Bronzing Studio's Fearless Leader, Tiffany Terranova, Talks Safety!

Check out what the fearless leader of RAW Bronzing Studio wants you to know about airbrush tanning and your safety!

Dear Bronzed Guys and Gals,

We've seen the recent news reports and wanted to provide a little insight from our point of view over at RAW Bronzing Studio. We are equally concerned regarding the lack of adequate ventilation in conventional spray tanning booths and mobile airbrush services. Most conventional airbrush tanning services do not provide proper ventilation (and in most cases, people are squeezed into a tiny tube or pop-up tent with no place for the solution to escape!) and the majority use solutions full of chemical preservatives (and other additives for fragrance and color) that are being inhaled throughout the service. This is why we DO NOT offer mobile tanning services even though it's in high demand. Using a small pop-up tent or squeezing inside someones small shower does not allow for a controlled, well-ventilated environment for our clients or ourselves.

Ultimately, we know our clients use sound judgment and we don't recommend inhaling or ingesting skin care products - even the organic/natural ones!  My hair spray, for instance, is completely organic yet it would be harmful to inhale it or swallow it!

So here are the important things to know about RAW:

First of all, yes, our product (as with ALL other self-tanners and self-bronzing products since the 70's) contains DHA. DHA has been approved by the FDA and is not absorbed into the blood stream but simply sits on the top of the first layer of skin and naturally exfoliates throughout the week.

1) RAW Bronzing Studio's solution is a 100% Organic, All Natural, FDA Approved, alcohol, paraben, and odor free, aloe based moisturizing formula that contains 10% Dihydroxyacetone, Aloe Vera, Vegetable Based Glycerin, White Tea Extract, Grapefruit Seed Extract and Citric Acid and truly one of the most simple products one can use on the skin.

2) All three of RAW Bronzing Studio's rooms are ventilated with electrostatic gold anodized filters that are placed in each room and are on during the entire business day, constantly cleaning and purifying the air.

3) RAW Bronzing Studio has been researching the topic of ventilation safety for the last several years to stay up to date on the latest in cancer prevention and skin health and more importantly, adamantly adhere to proper usage of FDA regulations regarding sunless tanning and DHA.

As you may know, I'm a melanoma survivor and concerned about the amount of chemicals in everyday products and strive to use only the purest, safest ingredients for myself and our clients. RAW Bronzing Studio feels strongly that our FDA approved solution, combined with our ventilated rooms, provide the best organic bronzing experience available today! We're so excited to announce that we have also invested in an exhaust system that's FDA/OSHA approved to eliminate excess overspray (basically making it cleaner than our parking lot!) and specifically designed for the high-volume airbrush tanning environment.

We appreciate each and every one of our clients and are thankful for your continued support everyday. Please do not hesitate to reach out to anyone on the RAW Bronzing Studio team if you have further questions. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

All the best,

Tiffany Terranova

Matte Fresh Tint
Stuff I'm into, 1st Edition:

1. COOLA Face SPF 30 Organic Sunscreen: Alright ladies (and gents)... this is the sunscreen that you've been dreaming about. It's non-greasy, unscented, and leaves your skin matte and ready for the day. I use it every morning and it's an awesome base under my makeup. My mama taught me to use sunscreen everyday... really, EVERYDAY... so I've tried a bunch of different kinds (Kiehl's, Aveeno, Coppertone, Clinique..) and this one is by far and away the standout. P.S. You can pick it up at RAW Bronzing Studio in Inman Park!
2. We're Maxxinistas! The ladies of Birds of a Feather Creative are pumped about the new TJ MAXX that opened in the Whole Foods Shopping Center on Ponce. In a closet full of Urban Outfitter's sale garb, this TJ Maxx is a welcomed addition!

Pink Peppercorn Salt, yum!

3. Beautiful Briny Sea: Alright party people, this salt is gonna blow your mind. I picked up some truffle salt at the Indie Craft Experience on Saturday and I love it. Steaks-popcorn-anything & everything!!
